CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS

ARTICLE I: NAME
The name of the organization shall be: GENEALOGY CLUB OF OAK RUN
ARTICLE II: PURPOSE
The purpose of this organization is to encourage members in the study and
research of family lineage through fellowship, sharing of knowledge and
educational programs in areas of common interest of genealogy.
ARTICLE III: MEETINGS
Meetings shall be held monthly.
ARTICLE IV: MEMBERSHIP/DUES
Membership is open to any Oak Run resident. Residents may visit the Club
for two meetings before membership dues are required. The amount of dues
is determined by a vote of the Club members and are paid annually at the
September meeting.
ORHA Board rules state non-residents may attend only if overnight guests of
members
ARTICLE V: OFFICERS
The elected officers shall consist of President, Vice-President, Secretary and
Treasurer. The term of office shall be for one year. The same elected office
may not be held for more than two consecutive years. Elections shall be held
in May with the new officers taking office in September.
A. Titles and Duties
The President will preside at all meetings and be ex-officio member of all
committees except the nominating committee.
The President shall appoint committees as needed.
The President shall appoint a Nominating Committee at the April
meeting.
The Vice-President will act in place of the President when necessary in
any of the above functions and will assist in appointing committees.
The Secretary shall keep the minutes and be club reporter. The duties
will include publicity and club correspondence.
The Treasurer shall be custodian of the Club’s funds, collect dues, pay
authorized expenses and maintain a record of the membership.
B. Vacancies
1. If the office of President shall become vacant for any reason, it shall
be assumed for the remainder of the term by the Vice-president.
2. If any office other than the Presidency becomes vacant, it shall be
filled by presidential appointment and the appointee will serve for the
remainder of the term.
ARTICLE VI: VOTING
A. To amend the By-Laws an announcement of the proposed change must be
made at one meeting and vote taken at the following meeting. Two-thirds
vote of the members present is required for passage.
B. A simple majority of members present determines the outcome of any
vote other than a change to the By-Laws.
ARTICLE VII: PROCEDURES
Roberts Rules of Order Revised shall guide this organization.
